Description
Job Summary:
The VP will maintain primary responsibility for key aspects of the firm's cross-border business, and have overall responsibility on country-specific rules related to international securities business. The candidate will have a high level of autonomy, using extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience. The role will have in-depth expertise on jurisdictional requirements for client relationships, services, and products in selected non-US markets for retail and other financial services businesses. The role will provide guidance and recommendations to business leadership, Raymond James' financial professionals, other Cross Border team members, and internal stakeholders on country issues and discussions of cross-border strategy.
To successfully operate in this role, he/she will liaise with legal experts to obtain internal and external guidance, interpret requirements related to each in-scope jurisdiction, and apply those to all aspects of the Raymond James' business environment. The candidate will maintain oversight over the process of translating complex non-US regulatory information and materials into user-friendly guidelines for front office personnel, making key decisions around risk tolerance and working with internal partners to ensure the establishment of a framework for the supervision of published guidelines. This requires building and maintaining strong relationships with execuative leadership, the field and throughout the firm, and additionally understanding Raymond James offerings in order to develop pragmatic and effective solutions. The candidate will report to Raymond James' Head of Cross Border Strategy and Oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Oversees all aspects of the jurisdiction requirements in which Raymond James conducts business outside of the US, and serve as expert in how country rules are applied to all aspects of Raymond James Private Client Group business.
* Oversee and manage Raymond James' businesses and the varying ways that cross-border business is conducted at the firm.
* Manage relationship with internal partners with respect to questions of interpretation and application of country rules.
* Ensures program initiatives are completely and accurately defined.
* Synthesize complex information into user-friendly materials on country-specific issues for country policies and guidelines. Provide Subject Matter expertise for the development of education and communications initiatives.
* Manage communications and training requirements.
* Partners across Cross-Border leadership team and key stakeholders to provide day-to-day guidance on complex cross-border issues related to in-scope jurisdictions.

* Extensive knowledge of all aspects of financial services business, including familiarity with a broad range of products and services, preferably with expertise on servicing of international clients.
* Ability to balance supporting compliance in regulated environment with service-focused mindset.
* Superior analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems, analyze large amounts of information, and identify, assess and execute on effective guidance.
* Superior communication and reasoning skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with senior leadership, peers, and staff in a diverse and complex organization.
* Strong drive to implement solutions, working with several parties throughout Raymond James.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required and minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years experience working in a regulatory supervision, compliance or legal capacity in the financial services industry or a similarly regulated environment
* Juris Doctor (J.D.) preferred
