The Student Employee is responsible for providing customer (student) assistance and provides clerical and other general office support to the Office of Student Support Services.Reports To Student Support Services Assistant What position(s) reports to this position?

Provide customer service in-person to students, other college staff or faculty and to the public regarding information about the office or the colleges services and operations.
Provide customer service via the telephone, forward calls and take messages as needed.
Provide clerical tasks such as scanning and copying documents, filing and organizing materials, organizing office supplies and clerical tasks as requested.
Assist students with login tot he office, using the Starfish system.
Prepare text in alternative formats (experience not required).
Input data into an electronic database.
Assist with set-up and execution of events and class presentations.
Make deliveries to other offices or individuals on campus.
Complete specialized computer assignments, as needed.
Adhere to FERPA guidelines to maintain student record confidentiality.Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCCs established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, scaffolding, ramp, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to grasp materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Good phone skills and etiquette.
